Death to QWERTY? Apple’s Next Gen. Computer

First it was the resurrection of the Macintosh computer. Then it was the uber-hit with the Ipod, now a cultural icon. Well, the revolution that has been Apple has done it again. . .Apple Mac has designed a keyboardless computer that is poised to hit shelves within 6-15 months (probably later than sooner).
The revolutionary new computer, though not the first concept nor production of something along these lines, will be the first mass-marketed product of its kind. Needless to say that Mac-lovers are already drooling over this product of the future.
The concept involves a touch-pad wheel with a center button. That’s it! The wheel allows for movement while the button allows for selection. And of course, the computer also has new features, the least of which is a light-weight frame and extended battery power.

It will be interesting indeed to see if the “wheel” will revolutionize the way keyboards are used. From the video, “typing” looks a bit cumbersome, though certainly it must take some time to get adjusted to. Regardless, it seems impossible that one would be able to type 70+ words per minute using that wheel, and it appears the scroll feature will take eons to use. That said, this new technology will certainly pave the way for future improvements and innovations to computers as they become less complex. If you have seen the movie “Children of Men “, perhaps the future will hold a computer like the one Theo’s friend’s son uses.
Though of course, if you have seen the movie the whole pretense is how humankind becomes so technologically advanced that the female population becomes infertile. . .Are we seeing a glimpse of the future? To say such may be a bit of a fanatical response, but its an interesting concept that has obviously sparked intriguing questions with potentially real consequences (notice the increasing trend of human-created world-ending apocalyptic movies lately?)
Whatever the case though, it may now not be long before we see a movie entitled, “Death to QWERTY .”
